Junta’s artillery damages school buildings in Kyone Long village

HURFOM: At about 4 am on November 12^th, 2024, the military junta attacked Kyone Long (old) village, Ye Township, Mon State even though there had been no active armed clashes in the area.  Artillery shells exploded on the premises of the Basic Education Middle School.

Junta Troops Conduct Armed Census Collection Amid Forced Displacement in Southern Tanintharyi Region

HURFOM: HURFOM has received reports that junta soldiers in the Tanintharyi Region are forcefully conducting a census by visiting households at gunpoint in villages within Palaw and Tanintharyi Townships. This armed census operation, which began on October 1, was initially scheduled to end on October 15 but has been extended multiple times and is now continuing into November, as junta troops struggle to obtain accurate population data.

Junta Troops Detain Civilian During Withdrawal from Palaw Township

HURFOM: A civilian was reportedly detained by junta forces as they withdrew from Zayat Seik village in Palaw Township, Myeik District, after occupying the village for over 15 days. According to local sources, the junta troops had been stationed at the village monastery since October and began pulling back on the morning of November 6.

Junta bans local villagers from going to plantation in R Yu Taung

HURFOM: The military junta has imposed a ban on travel to rubber plantations in R Yu Taung, Kwan Doon and Hnin Zone villages, Northern Ye Township, Mon State.  Local villagers reported to HURFOM that the ban has been in effect since the third week of October.

Collection of detailed personal information of prisoners by junta creates worry about forced conscription
