Special Guerrilla Force shoots and kills a Min Yat villager

HURFOM: On March 28th, 2025, a local revolutionary force – the Special Guerrilla Force had shot and killed a 19-year-old young man from Min Yat village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.
Maung Htet Lin Kyaw was a member of the force in 2024; however, he was sent back to his parents as he did not follow the rule of the armed group.
The force told his parents to send him away from their military base and the village but a month later, they found that Maung Htet Lin Kyaw was active around their base. Then, they arrested and detained him.
After three months of detention, the force had shot and killed Maung Htet Lin Kyaw on March 28th after accusing him of attempting to run away from detention.
“He was detained at Min Yat village. at about 11 am, he phoned his mother and said he was released. He even asked for the contact numbers of brokers to enter Thailand irregularly. But, later, the commander phoned his father and asked him how they could handle him. His father taught they just detained him for punishment and replied the force could handle him in accordance with the discipline of the group. Then, we went to where his son was detained. He had conversation with the force but they shot and kill Maung Htet Lin Kyaw in front of his father,” said a source close to the victim’s family.
The Special Guerrilla Force released a statement on their Facebook page explaining that they shot and killed Maung Htet Lin Kyaw as he repeatedly breached rules and regulations of the armed force.
