Mother and daughter shot and killed by a local armed group

HURFOM: In the third week of March, 2025, a local armed group shot and killed a mother and a daughter from Pyaun Ma Htein village track nearby Three Pagoda Pass, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Krean State.
25-year-old Muu Pone Lone and her two daughters – six-year-old girl and eight-month-old baby, all native to Pone Khaw village, were returning to their home from Khell We village while they were recklessly shot and killed by the local armed group.
The mother and six-year-old daughter were killed by the attack while eight-month-old baby sustained injury.
“The local armed group had blocked all news related to the shooting and killing. So we haven’t known the exact reason behind the shooting,” said a local source.
The HURFOM was informed that the group was an armed group operated under the leadership of Captain Ell Saw War and active in Karen State.
Since after the attempted coup, there are many shootings and killings by the local armed groups in Three Pagoda Pass and nearby villages; however, none of the cases could be handled in accordance with the laws.
