Nearly 3,000 displaced villagers face shortage of food in Long Lone

HURFOM: In the third week of December, 2024, an armed clash between the military junta and the joint armed revolutionary forces broke out in Long Lone Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division.  As a result, nearly 3,000 local villagers from six villages including Kyauk Ni Maw, Za Lut, Kyauk Wat Pyin and Ball Pyin villages had to flee their homes.

Students face difficult to take final exams as schools closed by armed conflict

HURFOM: In 2024-25 academic year, Grade 4, 6, 7 and 8 have to take their final exams from February 20 to 25, 2025 while Grade 5 and 9 will take final exam from March 3 to 8, 2025. Grade 10 and 11 will take final exam from February 20 to 27, 2025.

Junta arrests two young men, accusing them of being PDF members

HURFOM: On January 12th, 2025, junta forces were conducting “stop and checks” on the Thaton – Hpa-An Highway Road at Bin Hline Ward, Thaton Town, Mon State.  The junta’s security forces arrested two young men who were riding motorbikes after accusing them of being members of the People’s Defense Force.

Junta’s artillery attack injures woman and destroys house in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: At 1 pm on January 10th, 2025, the Thaton-based 44th military command launched an artillery attack targeting Hnat Pyaw Taw village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State. There were no armed clashes in the area.  According to local sources, the attack injured a local woman and destroyed a house.

Husband died and wife injured in landmine explosion in Kyikemayaw

HURFOM: On January 9th, 2025, a couple from Ma Yan Gone village, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State were returning home from their farm, when they stepped on a landmine.

A local source noted the 50-year-old husband’s injuries were serious. He was sent to the Mawlamyine General Hospital.
