HURFOM: From October 7th to the 14th, 2025, junta forces operating the security gates on the “Dawei – Myeik” Union Highway Road, Tenasserim Division have arrested more than 50 young men and forced them into conscription.
A resident from Tha Yet Chaung Township told HURFOM that soldiers from the Tha Yet Chaung, the Maung Mell Shaung, the Yebyu (entrance) and the Pu Law (bridge) security gates arrested young travelers, plantation workers and local young men under the pretense of security reasons.
Those arrested are in the 17-35 age range and all were sent to the 12th Military Training School and the Navy Training School in Myeik Island.
“The army has arrested all young men they encounter on the road. They even didn’t pardon travelers or plantation workers. Now, the young men dare not pass the army’s gates,” said a resident from Dawei Township.
The military junta also arrests, detains and conscripts young men who attempt to enter Thailand, but have been sent back to Burma by Thai authorities.
