HURFOM: On October 26th, 2025, a junta regiment consisting of approximately 200 troops advanced onto the Mawlamyine Cement Factory (MCL) and nearby villages, Pyar Taung area, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State and have since stationed themselves in the villages.
Since October 27th, the regiment has been launching indiscriminate artillery and drone attacks targeting Ka Done Si, Tha Yet Kone, Kaw One and Pauk Taw villages forcing villagers to flee their homes.
“There have been no armed clashes in the area. They’ve used drones to drop bombs just to frighten the villagers. The bombs exploded on houses. Most villagers have since fled to Tar Ra Nar. Only elderly people are left in the village,” said a local man.
The regiment is now firmly stationed in the villages. Residents worry there will be confrontations with the local revolutionary forces.
“Before, the Karen National Liberation Army and its allies were stationed in Ka Done Si. At about 8 pm on October 27th, the regiment launched artillery attacks and advanced into the village so the KNLA retreated. Half the population fled in fear of possible armed clashes,” said a Ka Done Si villager.
The regiment has tightened security in the village and arrested residents from other villages after accusing them of working as “informants”.
