HURFOM: On September 15th, 2025, a junta’s regiment advanced into Thar Yar Mon village, Yar Phu village track, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and arrested four villagers.
The regiment detained and interrogated the four at the “Yar Phu Yaw Thit” monastery. On September 18th, the regiment released 3 of the 4 villages; however, they detained 50-year-old U Soe Nile.
U Soe Nile has not been released as of November 3rd, 2025. He has been detained for nearly two months. The regiment has not allowed him to have contact with his family members. No one knows of his whereabouts or his condition.

“We have had no trace of him since the arrest. The man who was arrested with him said that their heads were covered with black plastic bags on that day. We don’t know the reason for his arrest. I have been inquiring about him for nearly two months but there is no trace of him,” said the wife.
Villagers and his wife assume he has been killed by the regiment.
U Soe Nile earned a living from cleaning bushes at plantations and chopping trees. He and his wife had three children. His wife has had to flee their home since his arrest.
“I totally rely on him. Two of our children are in Thailand and only a ten-year-old child lives with me. I’ve been inquiring about him everywhere but have no trace of him,” continued the wife.
The regiment that arrested U Soe Nile has been active around Yar Phu and villagers said the regiment will not leave until the junta’s sham election is concluded in December, 2025.
