HURFOM: On January 21st, 2025, 45-year-old U Than Tun and 35-year-old Ko Thet Ko from Ward #2, Pu Law Town, Tenasserim Division were arrested and taken by the 285th Light Infantry Battalion.

HURFOM: On January 21st, 2025, three local women from Pha Hlut Ward, Zin Kyike Town, Paung Township, Mon State were arrested by the military junta.
27-year-old schoolteacher Daw Tike Tike San, 18-year-old tailor Ma Soon Mon and a local woman attending Japanese language training were arrested by the military. No reason for arrests has been provided.

Civilians in Burma have been forced to endure endless attacks by the military junta. Communities that have long been affected by the junta’s atrocities are living in constant fear. In targeted areas of Mon State, Karen State, and the Tanintharyi region, the Human Rights Foundation of Monland (HURFOM) has documented debilitating circumstances that continue to threaten and undermine the safety of local people.
The junta’s ongoing artillery shelling and drone strikes in Kyaik Hto and Bilin townships, Mon State, have left residents living in constant fear. Since the second week of January 2025, the intensified attacks have caused injuries, destroyed homes, and forced villagers to either flee or seek protection in makeshift bomb shelters.

HURFOM: Since January 8th, 2025, an intense battle has been ongoing between the military junta and the Mon and Karen armed revolution groups near Kyone Long (old) village, Ye Township, Mon State. The military junta has launched indiscriminate artillery attacks and is targeting nearby villages.

HURFOM: On January 9th, 2025, an intense battle took place between the military junta and the joint resistance forces in Kyone Long (old) village, Ye Township, Mon State.
Soon after the armed conflict, the junta blocked the transportation of food to the Ye Chaung Pyar Area.

He lost his left leg below the knee and sustained injuries to his chest.

HURFOM: On January 8th, 2025, about 30 troops with the military junta entered Kyone Long (old) village, Ye Township, Mon State and stationed themselves at the “Dhamma Kar Yone Bo Kalay Monastery”.
The reason for the incursion into the village is because they believe that members of the armed revolutionary forces were active in the area. The junta’s troops have launched indiscriminate artillery attacks on nearby villages.
