HURFOM: On January 21st, 2025, three local women from Pha Hlut Ward, Zin Kyike Town, Paung Township, Mon State were arrested by the military junta.
27-year-old schoolteacher Daw Tike Tike San, 18-year-old tailor Ma Soon Mon and a local woman attending Japanese language training were arrested by the military. No reason for arrests has been provided.
“The military junta usually conducts night patrol and three of them were arrested at night. We do not know why they were arrested or where they were taken,” said a local source.
The junta also arrested four young men from Myo Ma #4 Ward, Zin Kyike Town who were drinking alcohol and appeared to be drunk.
“Their families went to the police station for an inquiry but the station replied their sons were not there. But on the next day, the police station phoned them and threatened to allow their sons to serve as conscripts for two years or their sons would be jailed for seven years for abusing drugs. The parents didn’t agree to let their sons serve as conscripts so all of them were jailed for seven years now,” said a local resident.
The military junta has tightened security at security gates in Zin Kyike Town. They have also been conducting night patrols and arresting local residents.
