HUROFM: On January 23rd, 2024, two men and two women from Kan Bauk Town, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta at their home at midnight.

Young girl killed by junta’s artillery attack in Ye Township

HURFOM: On January 20th, 2024, an armed clash between the military junta and the joint revolutionary forces took place near Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, Mon State. After the clash, local military bases recklessly and indiscriminately  launched artillery attacks on nearby villages that killed a 12-year-old girl from R Yu Taung village.

Monk sustains serious injury from landmine near junta’s check-point

HURFOM: On January 19th, 2024, a traveling monk stepped on a landmine near a military junta’s check-point between Tha Yet Hna Kwa and Pan Pyin villages, Tha Yet Chaung Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division and sustained a serious injury.

Family members accept monetary compensation for child rape: Rule of law abandoned

HURFOM: According to civil society organizations (CSO) providing support to women and children, In Mon and Karen States, justice is no longer being served.

Since the attempted coup, child rape cases have increased in Mon and Karen States but nearly none have been reported to the police or brought to the courts.

Another fifty houses burnt down in Kaw Ka Rate: More difficulties for displaced persons to return home

HURFOM: On January 21st, 2024, another 50 houses in Ward #5, Kaw Ka Rate Town, Karen State were burnt down, local residents reported to HURFOM.

Both the military junta and the joint revolutionary forces are active in Kaw Ka Rate and there has been ongoing heavy battles as of January 22^nd.

Military operation in Tha Yet Chaung forces 2,000 villagers to flee home

HURFOM : On January 14th, 2024, more than 100 military junta troops launched an operation in Tha Yet Chaung Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division forcing more than 2,000 villagers to flee their homes.

Four women killed by artillery attacks in Bilin

HURFOM: On January 19th, 2024, the military junta launched artillery attacks on Tattoo Gone village, Dough Yat village tract, Bilin Township, Mon State killing four women, reported a local rescue team.

The 314th Artillery Regiment based in Zee Wun village, launched the attacks that killed four women and destroyed two houses.

Traveler’s sustain minor injuries in armed clash near Maw Ka Nin, Ye Township

HURFOM: At 7 am on January 20th, 2024, an armed clash took place at the “Suspension Bridge” police check-point near Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, Mon State and some travelers sustained minor injuries.

The joint revolutionary forces attacked the police base which had about 100 troops and hundreds of vehicles and travelers were stuck in the armed clash and some sustained injuries.

Artillery attacks in Thaton injure child and destroy two houses

HURFOM: At about 10 am on January 1st 2024, the 9th Light Infantry Battalion based in Thaton launched at least eight indiscriminate artillery attacks on V Yaw and Htone Boe Gyi villages. There had been no provocation by revolutionary forces to warrant an attack.

Civilian from Thane Za Yet sustains injury in armed clash

HURFOM: On January 17^th, 2024, an armed clash took place between the military junta and the revolutionary forces at the police station in Thane Za Yet Town, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State.  A civilian sustained an injury during the clash.
