Entire Taung Zun village flees from armed clash

HURFOM: On April 7th, 2024, the Karen National Liberation Army and its alliance forces attacked the 284rth Light Infantry Battalion based along the Three Pagoda Pass – Thanbyuzayat Motorway near Taung Zun village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State.
The battle was prolonged, lasting until May 3, 2024 and nearly 2,000 residents had to flee from their homes.
“The junta used both air and artillery attacks during the battle. Houses were damaged but we don’t know how many exactly,” said a resident.
Taung Zun village has more than 300 households and residents have been unable to return home. The junta has cut off mobile phone and Internet connection at Taung Zun and nearby areas.
By the end of 2022, the entire Taung Zun village had to flee from these armed clashes.
