Local man shot and killed in Ye

June 30, 2025

HURFOM: According to local villagers, at about 7 am on June 25th, 2025, two unknown gunmen arrived at the house of 67-year-old U Ah Nyar in San Pya village, Ye Township, Mon State by motorbike and shot and killed him.

He had six gunshot wounds to his head and chest, and died on the spot.

“U Ah Nyar was selling fruits in the village. On that day, two men came to him to buy durians. The durians in his shop were already reserved so U Ah Nyar didn’t sell the durians to them. That’s why he was shot and killed,” said a local woman.

U Ah Nyar was a native of Naypyidaw and he was a retired soldier from the junta’s army.

The Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) ##588 is located near the village and the People’s Defense Forces are also active around the village. So we don’t know which group is responsible for the killing. Some sources said U Ah Nyar worked as a military informant so the revolutionary forces came and shot him,” said a local source.

The body of U Ah Nyar was sent to the Lamine General Hospital with the assistance of a local charity group and it was cremated on June 25th.

According to data collected by HURFOM, in May, 2025, at least five civilians were arbitrarily killed in Mon State and there has been no trace of the murderers.
