Junta’s commander threatens administrators not to support PDF in Ye

HURFOM: The Junta’s Commander and Chief Strategist of the 19th Military Operation Management Command (MOMC) convened the Karen and Mon village Administrators in Ye Township, and threatened to take severe action if they were found to be aiding and abetting the PDF in any way.
According to a District Administration source, approximately 40 villages and wards Administrators were called to army bases and warned on June 5th. The Commanders and chief strategists of Infantry Battalions (IB) No.343, 586, 591, 583 and 106, and Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) No.31 were involved.

HURFOM: The military junta launched an artillery attack on Yaw Tan Shay village, Kaw Ka Rate Township, in Karen State in the morning of June 7, 2023.
There had been no resistance or attack on the military by resistance forces.

Tuition, dormitory fees, food and other associated costs for a single academic year, cost between three to six million Kyat. Some parents are unable to pay for these costs for their children.

HURFOM: Both local residents and internally displaced people living in Dawei’s east district are now facing food and water shortages due to strict control of rice and food stuffs by junta forces.
From the end of April until the beginning of June, more than 5,000 refugees from 12 villages have been trapped in Dawei East District, due to a junta council’s offensive and continuous targeting of the locals.

HURFOM: On June 1st, 2023, the 410th Light Infantry Battalion based in Ka Lane Aung Township, Dawei District, killed a male villager with a gun for no reason.
According to local residents, the man shot by the junta military was Ko Naing Oo. He was 35 years old, and suffered from a mental disorder. He recently settled in Ka Lane Aung having come from Ye Township in Mon State.

HURFOM: Junta forces shot and killed 3 residents living at an internally displaced people’s re-settlement site. A man, a child, and the mother from the village were shot by soldiers patrolling the site.
The arrival of the junta soldiers caused residents to flee. One resident is still missing.

HURFOM: Two male villagers who were traveling in a small boat on the Tenasserim river were shot by junta forces, on June 3 at about 3pm. One man died.
The two victims were going from Nyaung Pin Gone village to the old Kanto village. Ko Aung Kyaw, thought to be approximately 30 years old, was hit by the shot and fell into the water.

HURFOM: According to local residents, at least 6 people, including a 6-year-old child, were injured when artillery shells exploded after hitting a house in Hle Lan Kuu village, Kyaik Hto township, Mon State.
Local observers noted that the attack was perpetrated by the 402nd artillery unit based in Thaton.
