Military junta kills villagers and burns down houses in East Dawei

HURFOM: Junta forces shot and killed 3 residents living at an internally displaced people’s re-settlement site. A man, a child, and the mother from the village were shot by soldiers patrolling the site.

The arrival of the junta soldiers caused residents to flee. One resident is still missing.

On May 31st, at about 7 a.m. the junta also burned down 8 houses in Tin Kan Tone village, east of Dawei township.

The junta council, consisting of more than 100 troops, shot and killed locals. The burned houses were from the same village. A restaurant was also set on fire,” said a local.

By the morning of June 1st, junta troops reached Rama Zu village and arrested some of the villagers but released them shortly after.

Last May 21st, junta troops also burnt down a house in U Yin Gyi village.
