Junta’s artillery attacks kill five and injure 29 in Mon State

HURFOM: From January to July 15th, 2025, military junta artillery attacks killed five civilians and injured at least 29 other residents in Mon State, according to the data collected by HURFOM.

An artillery explosion killed one person in January, one in March, two in May and one in June – five in total.

The explosions injured five in January, five in February, three in March, seven in April, two in May, six in June and one in July – 29 in total.

Mon State, Kyike Hto and Bilin experience the most armed conflicts. There have been lots of armed clashes in Karen and Yebyu also,” said Nai Aue Mon, the Program Director of HURFOM.

Most artillery explosions occurred in April and June, 2025.  Kyike Hto Township suffered from 11 incidents; Bilin Township five and Thanbyuzayat Township one. There were 17 artillery explosions in total.

The artillery explosion has increased by 1.5 times compared to the previous year. This is occurring not only in Mon State, but also in other areas. Most of the casualties were due to the indiscriminate artillery attacks,” continued Nai Aue Mon.

In 2024, the junta’s artillery attacks killed 45 civilians and injured 125 other residents in Mon State, according to the data collected by HURFOM.
