The junta arrested U Ka Yin for cooperating with the revolutionary armed groups after the coup. He had just been released in the previous month. He made his living as an astrologer after the release. On that day, he was searching for a missing child, and was shot and killed,” said a local villager.

The body was sent to the Du Yar Hospital with the assistance of the local emergency and rescue team and was cremated on July 13th.

Three members of the military junta came to investigate the incident.

If the revolutionary groups kill someone, lots of junta’s forces come to investigate.  However, in this case, only three military members came. They did not set up road blocks, nor question people — it just looked like nothing happened,” said a resident.

According to the data collected by HURFOM, there have been at least seven extrajudicial killings in Mon State in May and June, 2025.
