HURFOM: The Junta’s Commander and Chief Strategist of the 19th Military Operation Management Command (MOMC) convened the Karen and Mon village Administrators in Ye Township, and threatened to take severe action if they were found to be aiding and abetting the PDF in any way.
According to a District Administration source, approximately 40 villages and wards Administrators were called to army bases and warned on June 5th. The Commanders and chief strategists of Infantry Battalions (IB) No.343, 586, 591, 583 and 106, and Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) No.31 were involved.
“We did not meet to be assigned security tasks like in the past. We were threatened and scolded. The main point was that if the junta military finds out that the people have given the food and accepted the shelter for PDF, they will raid and burn their villages. They are threatening to take military action against everyone. If we don’t want to see our village and villagers suffer, the threat is to stay away from the local revolutionary forces,” said an Administrator, who did not want to be named.
The junta’s military summoned the village Administrators, from Bel La Mu village tract, Ka Late Tok village tract, Hnin Su village tract, as well as Maw Ka Nin village, Kyaung Yaw village.
“The Administrators from Karen villages in the 6th brigade of the KNU-controlled area in Ye township were treated like criminals and rebuked even more by the junta military. It seems that the junta military strategists/commanders were very aggressive toward the village Administrators of Kyaung Ywar and Kyauk Me Chaung village tracts,” said a source who was summoned.
