Junta Forces Arbitrarily Detain 20 Civilians and Force Them to Serve as Porters in Yebyu Township

On the morning of April 7, junta troops operating near Zardee Village Tract, Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, arbitrarily detained around 20 local men from Phar Chaung Inn village and forced them to serve as porters, according to local sources.

The military column, estimated to be about 100 soldiers, arrived in Phar Chaung Inn at approximately 7:50 AM after advancing from the direction of Zardee village. On arrival, they began detaining men they encountered in the area and forced them to carry military equipment.

Junta’s curfew creates problem for rubber plantation workers

HURFOM: The junta’s newly-installed security gate on Eye Poke village road, Ye Chaung Pyar region, Ye Township, Mon State has imposed a movement restriction from 5pm to 6am and the restriction has created problem for local rubber plantation workers.

Administrator and members of militia group extort travelers in Mudon

HURFOM: Since April 8^th, 2025, the administrator of Nine Prime village and members of local militia group have stationed themselves in the security gate at the entrance of Mudon Township, Mon State and extorted money from travelers. Each traveler has to pay 10,000 MMK and each motorbike owner has to pay even 100,000 MMK.

Nearly 1,000 Junta Troops Deployed Near Dawei SEZ; Villagers Forced to Flee Amid Escalating Conflict

In Yebyu Township, Dawei District of Tanintharyi Region, local sources report that nearly 1,000 junta troops have been deployed around villages near the Dawei Special Economic Zone (SEZ), forcing many residents to flee their homes in fear of clashes.

Since March 29, over 500 troops have entered Mudoo village, which is situated close to the SEZ. Another group of approximately 100 troops has also been stationed near Maungmagan. Residents in the area have reported the presence of two separate military columns in Mudoo, and many have already fled for their safety.

On March 31, another wave of troops entered the Zar Dee village tract. Local villagers from Zar Dee, Khaung Pyan, and Deik Takaw villages encountered around 400 junta soldiers. At least 12 women and elderly people who remained in the villages were reportedly arrested.

Junta arrests unlicensed motorbikes and extorts owners in Mawlamyine

HURFOM: In Mawlamyine, Mon State, the joint teams of junta’s traffic police and police forces have been conducting “stop and check” of motorbikes at the entrance and exist of the Capital of the Mon State. If the team finds an unlicensed motorbike, the owner is extorted at least 30,000 MMK. Some owners are extorted up to hundreds thousand MMK. If the owners fail to pay the ransom, their motorbikes are seized and they are ordered to go to the court.

Two Civilians Injured, Home Destroyed in Junta Shelling on Thanbyuzayat Townshp

Two civilians were injured and a home was destroyed after junta troops launched artillery shells into a village in Mon State’s Thanbyuzayat Township, according to local sources.

The attack occurred on the evening of April 5, at around 6 p.m., when artillery fired from the Waekalee-based military command exploded inside the residential area of Kalaing Padaw village. There was no active fighting in the area at the time.

“A 120mm artillery shell landed and exploded in someone’s yard. A man and a woman were injured, and the house caught fire,” said one local resident.

Junta’s forces arrest two CDM schoolteachers after checking their UID

HURFOM: On March 18^th, 2025, the joint team of junta’s troops and police members stopped travelers and checked their UID (unique identifier) at the entrances or exists of towns and villages in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.

Five Escape, One Successfully Flees, Four Recaptured After Being Deported from Thailand to Kaw Thaung for Conscription

A group of young men who were deported from Thailand back to Burma through the Kaw Thaung border were being forcibly recruited into military training by the junta. Among them, five attempted to escape. One successfully fled, while four were recaptured. Their families and relatives reportedly have no knowledge of their whereabouts.

According to local sources, these individuals were taken to the Light Infantry Battalion No. 431 in Kaw Thaung Township for military training. The escape reportedly occurred in the last week of March.
