HURFOM: On June 17th, 2025, a 40-year-old woman from Myo Ma 4th Ward, Mudon Town, Mon State was returning from a shopping trip, when she was stopped by a joint traffic team conducting a check for unlicensed vehicles.

She’s just an ordinary housewife. She encountered the traffic police at the traffic junction on her way back from the “Shwe Hin Thar” Market. The police were aware that she wasn’t wearing a bra and fined her 30,000 MMK,” said a Mudon resident.

Similarly in the first week of June, a local woman from Thaton Township was fined 50,000 MMK by the junta’s police team for not wearing a brassiere while riding a motorbike.

The joint traffic police team has been checking and arresting owners of unlicensed vehicles and vehicles with temporary licenses since the second week of June.  In some cases, the team has entered motorbike sale centers to arrest owners of unlicensed vehicles.

In the second week of June, the junta’s forces entered the sale center and seized two motorbikes. Then, they ordered the center to close. If not, the owner would be sued, they threatened,” said a resident.

After arresting owners of unlicensed vehicles or vehicles with temporary licenses, the junta forces routinely attempt to extort the owners, seize the vehicles or put them in jail.
