Five Escape, One Successfully Flees, Four Recaptured After Being Deported from Thailand to Kaw Thaung for Conscription

A group of young men who were deported from Thailand back to Burma through the Kaw Thaung border were being forcibly recruited into military training by the junta. Among them, five attempted to escape. One successfully fled, while four were recaptured. Their families and relatives reportedly have no knowledge of their whereabouts.

According to local sources, these individuals were taken to the Light Infantry Battalion No. 431 in Kaw Thaung Township for military training. The escape reportedly occurred in the last week of March.

Junta’s artillery attack injuries two villagers in Thanbyuzayat

HURFOM: On April 5^th, 2025, the junta’s regiment based in Yell Ta Gon village launched 120-mm artillery attack to Ka Lane Pa Daw village, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State without having any active armed clash in nearby area and the artillery explosion injured two villagers, according to local reports.

HURFOM: On April 4^th, 2025, the junta’s troops arrested a fish pond owner who was doing fish farming nearby the village cemetery in Sout Pa Nuu village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State and shot and killed him soon after the arrest.

Mother and daughter shot and killed by a local armed group

HURFOM: In the third week of March, 2025, a local armed group shot and killed a mother and a daughter from Pyaun Ma Htein village track nearby Three Pagoda Pass, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Krean State.

Junta’s army and administrators accept bribe money and protect gambling events in Mudon

HURFOM: Gambling events are been organized publicly in Mudon Township, Mon State under the context of celebrating local traditional festivals. The army and the administrators have been accepting bribe money from the organizers and providing a security guard to the gambling events, local villagers reported HURFOM.

Theft cases on the rise in Gyaing River area but no action from local authority

HURFOM: Local villagers reported HURFOM that theft and burglary cases were on the rise at night in Kyune Yaw, Dhammasa, Kaw Bane and nearby villages, Kyikemayaw Township, on the border of Mon and Krean State; however, there was no action or punishment from the junta’s army that controlled the area.

Weekly Analysis: Airstrikes, Artillery Attacks Persist in the Aftermath of the Earthquake in Burma

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake across Burma on 28 March 2025 was the latest in a series of catastrophic events for innocent civilians. The natural disaster follows Typhoon Yagi, which flooded communities nationwide at the end of last year. In the aftermath, local people are being bombarded with attacks from the air and ground by the terrorist junta. There are significant risks for civilians who have been repeatedly displaced and are fearful of further assaults. Even amidst earthquake relief efforts, the junta has not hesitated to fire upon innocent villagers.

During these difficult times, the junta insists on war. Only a dictator as ruthless as coup leader Min Aung Hlaing would seek attacks on the most vulnerable during a dark moment as survivors grieve and attempt to cope in the aftermath of the earthquake.

HURFOM: Since the second week of March, 2025, the military junta had been advancing into Zar D village track, Dawei Special Economic Zone, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and cut off electricity and telecommunication in the area.

Special Guerrilla Force shoots and kills a Min Yat villager

HURFOM: On March 28^th, 2025, a local revolutionary force – the Special Guerrilla Force had shot and killed a 19-year-old young man from Min Yat village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.

Maung Htet Lin Kyaw was a member of the force in 2024; however, he was sent back to his parents as he did not follow the rule of the armed group.
