HURFOM: On September 28th, 2025, a junta’s regiment advanced into Karen Lay Sake village, Thaton Township, Mon State and arrested nearly 30 teenagers.

The regiment consisting of about 70 troops entered the village at approximately 5 am and arrested the children at their homes.

Those arrested included, five 13-year-old boys, eight 16-year-old girls and 15 boys whose ages were unknown. They have been sent to the 9th Military Training School in Thaton Township.

The teenagers are still in detention as of October 2nd, 2025.

We saw the soldiers were arresting our children but we dare not say anything. They arrested the children in the houses and pointed guns at them and took them away. Now, I want to leave my village. I fear if the regiment will enter the village and arrest more children again,” said a local woman.

In July, 2025, the junta’s army arrested more than 40 residents including children in Pa Thein Yoe village, Thaton Township.  All those who were in the age range of military service were forcefully collected as conscripts.
