Private company to distribute electricity in junta’s full-controlled Chaung Zone Township

HURFOM: After the attempted coup in February 1st, 2024, the military junta has to limit the time for distribution of electricity across the country and the Mon State has been receiving electricity only six hours a day.

The limitation of electricity is getting worse in Mon State this year and the Mon State government has decided to grant a permission of electricity distribution in Chaung Zone Township to a private company in order to distribute electricity 24 hours in the township.

HURFOM: In Ye Township, Mon State, a “young betel nut” has priced at even 200 MMK at the moment and the high price of the product has created several thefts in the area, according to the betel nut plantation owners.

Now, a “young betel nut” has priced at 200 MMK in Maw Ka Nin village. As it has a good price, the owners have to protect them from thefts. Some owners only got what the thefts left over. Phaung Taw villager arrested by junta

HURFOM: On October 1st, 2024, the military junta arrested a 20-year-old man from Phaung Taw village, Kan Bauk area, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division.

According to a source close to the family, Ko Than Htike was riding his motorbike on the village road when he was stopped by the junta troops hiding beside the road. After checking his mobile phone, the troops accused them of having contact with the People’s Defense Force and arrested him.

HURFOM: The military junta announced they are conducting the national census from October 1st to 15th, 2024. Soldiers, police members, staff from the Immigration Department, schoolteachers and staff and officials from the General Administration Department are tasked with conducting the census.
