Junta’s military operation forces 1,000 villagers to flee homes in Yebyu

HURFOM: Since November 9th, 2024, the military junta has launched a military operation in Na Bu Lell region, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and the operation, which has forced more than 1,000 villagers to flee their homes.

A regiment consisted of 100 troops from Maung Ma Kan village, Long Lone Township entered Na Bu Lell region, Yebyu Township on November 7th and then, targeted  Mu Du, Nyaun Pin Sake, Lell Shaung, Para Dat and nearby villages forcing more than 1,000 residents to flee home.

They launched artillery attacks and entered the village. Most villagers fled to nearby mountains, forest or plantations. Some have taken shelter at their relatives’ houses in the city while some have rented houses in the city and stayed there,” said a Na Bu Lell resident.

The regiment also arrested a local man, and a mother and son from Mu Du village but they released them later.

They robbed and destroyed houses in the village. They also killed and ate the livestock,” said a villager from Mu Du village.

According to villagers, the local People’s Defense Force had launched a drone attack on the Maung Ma Kan Police Station in Long Lone Township on November 5th, and in response, the regiment from Long Lone targeted Yebyu Township.
