Yebyu resident steps on landmine sustains injuries

HURFOM: On November 10th, 2024, a 40-year-old woman from Ya Line village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division stepped on a landmine while at a rubber plantation and sustained an injury.
The woman went to Kyauk Ka Nyar village to buy “rubber slices” and she stepped on a landmine. She sustained an injury to her leg.
“Her plantation is located at Kyauk Ka Nyar. While visiting her plantation, she bought “rubber slices” from another plantation. She stepped on a landmine while going to collect the “rubber slices”,” said a local source.
The woman has been admitted to the Dawei General Hospital for further treatment.
According to the local sources, the landmine was planted by the military junta who have prohibited the villagers from traveling to the area.
The battle between the junta and the resistance forces is intense in Tenasserim Division and there have been frequent landmine explosions in Tenasserim, Dawei, Tha Yet Chaung and Yebyu Townships.
