HURFOM: On November 5th, 2024, two regiments consisting of more than 100 troops launched a military operation to Maung Ma Kan, Kyauk Wat Pyin, Out Kyauk Wat, Nyaw Pyin and Kyauk Ni Maw villages, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.
On November 8th, the regiment entered Pin Tin Inn village and arrested 40-year-old U Myint Aung and a resident of Pyin Gyi village.
Then, U Myint Aung ran away and managed to escape but sustained cut wounds to his back when he was tortured by the regiment, according to a Maung Ma Kan resident.
However, the Pyin Gyi resident had to accompany the regiment and has not been released as of November 11th.
The regiment also searched and robbed houses in Pan Tin Inn village and headed to Tha Pyay village on November 10th.
When the regiment left the village, Maung Ma Kan residents started to return to their homes, but all of the residents from Nyaw Pyin, Out Kyauk Wat and Kyauk Wat Pyin villages were unable to return to their homes.
“When the regiment left the village, the villagers started to go home. So it’s difficult to calculate the number of displaced villagers,” said a resident from Long Lone Township.
Also in October, 2024, the junta’s regiment launched a military operation in Long Lone Township that lasted one week and killed five residents and burned down and destroyed houses.
