Junta’s regiment burns down houses and kills villager in Tha Yet Chaung

HURFOM: Since October 28th, 2024, a junta’s regiment has launched military operations in villages in Tha Yet Chaung Township, Tenasserim Division. The junta forces have burnt down houses, looted valuables from the houses of displaced villagers. They also shot and killed a local villager, according to local sources.

Junta’s troops beat and kill villager and injure seven residents in Bilin

HURFOM: On October 11th, 2024, junta soldiers recklessly arrested and beat local villagers.  The soldiers were shopping between Mell Pa Lee and War Khaw Pow villages, Bilin Township, Mon State.

57-year-old Saw San Win from Mell Pa Lee village was killed on the spot and seven other villagers were injured.

Junta artillery attack kills local man in Yebyu

November 1, 2024

HURFOM: On October 29th, 2024, the military junta battled with the resistance forces in Nyin Htwe village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim, and the 304th artillery regiment based in Kyout Ka Nyar village launched an artillery attack on the village to help their troops.

At least four artillery shells exploded in the village and the explosions killed 47-year-old U Tin Latt on the spot.

Junta’s air assault in Win Ye Township kills resident and injures another

October 31, 2024

HURFOM: On October 25th, 2024, the military junta dropped two 500-pound bombs on Win Ye (Kyarinnseikyi) Township, Du Palar Yar District, Karen State.  There has been no active armed clash, but the area is under the control of the Karen National Union – KNU.

The bomb killed 30-year-old Saw Thel Mu and injured 33-year-old Naw Ell Tar Mu, according to the KNU.

Junta’s ban on transporting rice creates rice scarcity in Tenasserim Township

HURFOM: In July 2024, the military security gate at the Baw Di Cam Bridge, Tenasserim Town, Tenasserim Division banned the transportation of rice and other basic food items into the area.   The ban created a rice scarcity in Ta Guu, Nyaung Pin Kwin, and Maw Tone village tracks of Tenasserim Township.

Rice can only be bought in Town. We can’t buy rice here for even three or four days. As it isn’t okay to transport rice, we can’t buy even a small amount of rice for our families,” said a resident from Ta Guu village.

Pu Law villager steps on landmine, loses leg

October 30, 2024

HURFOM: On October 27th, 2024, a local man from Pa La Town, Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division stepped on a landmine and sustained serious injuries.

According to local sources, 50-year-old Ko Soe Gyi went to harvest his paddy rice and he stepped on a landmine on the way to his farm. He lost one of his legs in the explosion.

HURFOM: On October 26th, 2024, for two hours, the junta dropped bombs on Lell Thit and Thane Naw villages, Tenasserim Township, Tenasserim Division.  There have been no active armed clashes in the area and the air assault injured two women and a man from Lell Thit village.
