Military presence nearby Kyone Long village forces 500 villagers to flee home

HURFOM: On January 8th, 2025, a regiment consisted of about 30 troops has reached Kyone Long village, Ye Township, Mon State and stationed themselves at the “Dhamma Kar Yon Bo Ka Lay Monastery” nearby the village. The sudden military presence has frightened the local villagers and they have fled home in fear of possible armed clash.

Intense and frequent armed clashes in Long Lone leads to telecommunication blackout

HURFOM: Since December, 2024, there have been intense and frequent armed clashes between the military junta and the joint forces of the revolutionary armed groups in Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division. The junta has cut off phone and internet telecommunications in the conflict areas leaving villagers in life-threatening situations due to information blackout.

Junta’s security forces extort young men without Mon-State ID cards

HURFOM: Currently junta forces at security gates at the entrance and exit of Mawlamyine City, Mon State are extorting money from young men who do not hold the Mon-State (10/) ID cards.

In the last week of December, 2024, one security gate on the Mawlamyine – Mudon Highway Road extorted 10,000 MMK from a 26-year-old young man who held Karen-State (3/) ID card.

Junta restricts transportation of gasoline in Pu Law Township

HURFOM: Since January 1st, 2024, the military junta has restricted local transportation of gasoline in Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division.

The security gates in Pu Law Township have banned transportation of gasoline through their gates. The only gasoline transportation that is permitted must have the support of specific village administrators.

HURFOM: Since December 17th, 2024, the military junta has launched military operations in Yebyu, Htone Khar, Chaung Hnit Pauk and Thane Khun villages alongside Tenasserim – Maw Taung Motorway in Tenasserim Township, Tenasserim Division.  This has included intense battles against the resistance forces.

HURFOM: On December 28th, 2024, ten residents including a ward Administrator from Thu Wunna Wati Town, Thaton Township, Mon State were arrested by the military junta for criticizing the junta for conducting arbitrary arrests to collect conscripts.
