HURFOM: Since the second week of August, 2025, military junta’s regiments have advanced into villages in Tha Yet Chaung Township, Tenasserim Division. According to local sources, their incursion has killed two villagers and destroyed 76 houses.
On August 17th, the regiment destroyed a car and a house in Oak Tu village and on August 22nd, it torched 60 houses in Saw Phyar village. The regiment also burnt down and destroyed 15 houses in Moe Shwe Gone village on August 25th.

On the morning of August 27th, villagers found two bodies of Moe Shwe Gone villagers near the village monastery and school.
“Everyone ran away upon hearing the sound of gunfire. We brought nothing with us. When we reached a safe place and looked back to our village, we just saw smoke. We don’t know whose houses were burnt down,” said a Moe Shwe Gone villager.
The advance of the junta’s regiment forced more than 2,000 villagers to flee their homes. Displaced villagers have been unable to return as soldiers are still active in the villages.
“Some young men tried to go home to check the situation but they dare not enter the village because soldiers are still in the village. Approximately, 80 houses were burnt down,” said another villager.
Two regiments of the military junta have been advancing into Tha Yet Hna Kwa, Oka Tu, Say Hpyat Gone, Kyauk Hlay Kar, Moe Shwe Gone, Saw Pyar and nearby villages in Tha Yet Chaung Township and arresting villagers who are then used as human shields.
