Old woman found dead in Thar Yar Mon village

HURFOM: Since early August, 2025, there has been constant and intense confrontations between the junta’s army and the Mon and Karen joint revolutionary armed groups along the Ka Lane Aung – Ma Hwelve Taung Road, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division. Villagers have had to flee their homes.
The entire Thar Yar Mon village fled on August 26th, 2025, and a 96-year-old woman who lived outside the village was found dead.
“We found the dead body of the old woman but her son is still missing. As the regiment is active near her compound, it is difficult to pick up the dead body,” said a Thar Yar Mon villager.
According to locals, the junta advanced to Thar Yar Mon village on August 24th; killed the old woman and arrested her son.
“The son and mother lived outside the village for years. Her son is about 40 years old. I don’t know his name. He suffers from mental illness,” said another villager.
HURFOM was informed that the junta’s troops also raided and robbed houses and shops in Thar Yar Mon village.
