HURFOM: Residents are once again fleeing their homes after three consecutive days of clashes in the Kanbauk area of Yebyu Township, Dawei District, where junta forces have been firing artillery shells into civilian villages.
According to local sources and resistance groups, fighting broke out on August 25 between junta troops and allied revolutionary forces around Se Eain Su village tract in the Phar Chuang village group, Kanbauk area. The clashes have continued for three days without pause.

On August 26, artillery fire from the Mawrawaddy Navy and Junta troops struck the grounds of Se Eain Su Monastery. Villagers reported that shells exploded inside the monastery compound, though the extent of damage is still unclear. “One shell landed inside the Se Eain Su monastery compound, but we don’t know the detail of damage yet. Residents from Taung Yin Inn and Phar Chuang villages are fleeing,” explained a local resident.

Meanwhile, junta soldiers have set up positions inside U Paing’s oil palm plantation, which is connected to Phar Chuang village group. From there, they have launched repeated artillery attacks toward surrounding villages. Residents described the fear of living near such a site, knowing shells could strike homes, schools, or places of worship at any time.

In addition to the fighting, junta troops arrested six plantation employees and one family member for interrogation. While two were later released, five remain in custody. Their fate remains uncertain, adding to the distress of their families and neighbors.

As of August 27, resistance forces reported that around 100 junta soldiers remain deployed inside the plantation. The armed groups engaged in the fighting include the People’s Defense Force , Dawna Guerrilla Force, Dawna Battalion 6, Battalion 7, Yephyu PaKaPha–Zin Yaw unit, Naga Nyi-Pyaung Kya guerrilla force, Dawei District PDF, and the Ba Htoo force.

The clashes and artillery fire have forced families to abandon their homes with little more than what they can carry.
