Young man from Thar Yar Mon village not released yet as arrest prolongs more than a week

HURFOM: On August 19th, 2025, an 18-year-old young man from Thar Yar Mon village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division encountered with a military regiment in Kaw Hline village and the regiment arrested him. The army claimed they found evidence in his mobile phone that he had a connection with revolutionary armed groups.
The young man has still been detained as of August 28th and the army do not allow family members to meet him.
“They said they would release him after interrogating for about three days. But now, it’s already nearly ten days (and he hasn’t been released),” said a source close to the family.
HURFOM was informed that the young man was detained at the 401st Light Infantry Battalion in Tha Pyay Chaung military region in Dawei City where forcefully-arrested conscripts were detained.
In Tenasserim Division, the junta usually detains forcefully-arrested conscripts at the 401st LIB and then, the conscripts will be sent to the 12th Advanced Military Training School in Pa Loud Town.
