Junta Troops Stationed in Than Payar Village Force Civilians to Flee

HURFOM: The military junta has stationed troops inside Than Payar Village, located along the Mudon–Kyarinnseikgyi–Payar Thone Zu (Three Pagodas Pass) road in Kyarinnseikgyi Township, forcing hundreds of civilians from Mon and Karen communities to flee their homes in fear.
Military movement and presence frighten local villagers in Phar Lane area, Ye Township

HURFOM: On September 19th, 2025, the junta’s army had battled with the joint resistance forces in Phar Lane area, Ye Township, Mon State.
After the battle, the army has been active around Ah Baw, Du Yar, Gu Ga Taw, Paline Thane, Hnee Hnuu, Thar Gram and An Dinn village. Moreover, the junta’s troops have been “hiding in ambush” in and nearby rubber plantation so that the local villagers and plantation workers are worrying about their security and safety.

HURFOM: On September 23, junta troops from Light Infantry Battalion No. 545 launched artillery strikes targeting Koh Dae Sai and Koh Wah Boe villages in Kyon Paing village tract, Kyon Doe Township, Kawkareik District, Karen State. According to local residents, the shelling left seven villagers injured and badly damaged the Buddhist monastery in Koh Dae Sai.

HURFOM: On September 22nd, 2025, a couple living at a rubber plantation in Kha Loud Cha village near Ah Nin village, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State were shot and killed. Villagers found the bodies.
30-year-old U Aung Thet Mon and his 28-year-old wife Mi Nan Htaw were assumed to be shot and killed on the evening of September 21st, according to a source close to Mi Nan Htaw.

HURFOM: Since the third week of September, 2025, the junta’s army had cooperated with the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) and launched military operation alongside the Mudon – Kyarinnseikyi Motorway which connects Mudon Township, Mon State and Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State.

HURFOM: Almost 1,000 people from Yebyu Township, Dawei District, remain displaced and in urgent need of humanitarian support after junta forces burned down homes and forced villagers to flee again.
The crisis began on August 27 when clashes broke out between around 100 junta troops and local resistance fighters in Taung Yin Inn and Se Eain Su villages in the Kanbauk area. Fighting lasted for three days. During this time, soldiers torched 18 houses in Taung Yin Inn and 17 homes, including a monastery, in Se Eain Su, while also ransacking at least 40 more.

HURFOM: The military Junta has arrested at least nine people, including teenagers, accusing them of attempting to disrupt its planned election. The Junta’s election commission announced the arrests on the evening of September 22, targeting civilians in Karenni State and Yangon Region.

The Human Rights Foundation continues to record daily attacks on civilians in targeted areas of Mon State, Karen State, and the Tanintharyi Region. These military assaults have worsened as the urgent response needed to stop the junta remains delayed. People across Burma are bearing the burden of the military’s ongoing atrocity crimes. These deliberate and systematic attacks on people’s lives will also continue with alarming frequency unless immediate and coordinated intervention occurs.
On September 14, Yak Kansin Monastery in Pakari village, Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region, was struck by an aerial bomb. The blast damaged the monastery building and destroyed several nearby houses. Local residents explained that the attack followed clashes when allied People’s Defence Forces launched an assault on junta troops stationed at the Pakari police camp and inside the monastery compound. During the fighting, two villagers from Pakari were killed.

HURFOM: At about 11 am on September 17th, 2025, even though there was no active armed clash in nearby areas, the military junta used Y12 aircraft to drop bombs on Pa Kar Ri, Pa Khat and Yay Wine villages of Dawei Township, King Shay, Oak Tu, Saw Hpyar and Mell Nell Oh villages of Tha Yet Chaung Township and Way D, Tha Pyay Shaung, Kyat Yet Twin and Kyauk Twin villages of Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.
