Junta regiment arrests three villagers after confrontation with revolutionary forces

HURFOM: On October 23rd, 2025, a junta regiment consisting of approximately 100 troops advanced into Yay Way and Chaung Sought villages, Thaton Township, Mon State where they had a confrontation with the local revolutionary forces.

Following the armed clash, the regiment arrested three villagers and used them as human shields. They have not been released as of today, and family members have not been able to contact them.

The three victims are Maung Tar Nay Htoo, Maung Gwa and U Phar Day — all are from Yay Way village.

After the armed clash, I saw that the regiment arrested three villagers and used them as human shields during their retreat. We don’t know where they have been detained. Their family members also don’t have contact with them,” said a local villager.

The armed clash in Yay Way and Chaung Sought villages, Thaton Township forced more than 350 residents to flee their homes.
