Junta’s artillery attack kills monk and injures two in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: On March 21^st, 2025, the military junta launched an artillery attack from the house of Pyu Saw Htee (military supporter) Aung Gyi in Lat Pan village, Wall Township, Pegu Division.   The artillery shell exploded in the dining hall of the “Myauk Kyaung” monastery in Kha Ywelve village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State.

HURFOM: On March 13^th, 2025, the military junta attacked Maung Ma Kan village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division with artillery fire injuring three residents including a two-year-old child.

Junta’s air attack kills two local men in Kaw Ka Rate

HURFOM: On March 19^th, 2025, the military junta used a Yak-130 fighter jet to drop bombs on Ta Ba Lu Kho Khee village, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State. The village is under the control of the Karen National Union.

Junta arrests three Maung Ma Kan residents and forces them into conscription

HURFOM: On March 14^th, 2025, junta’s troops based at the security gate at the Ka Myaw King Bridge, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division arrested three local men from Maung Ma Kan village tract and forced them into military conscription, according to local sources and their family members.

The Human Rights Foundation of Monland Condemns the Escalation ofJunta-Deployed Drone and Airstrikes Against Civilians in Karen and Mon States

The Human Rights Foundation of Monland (HURFOM) expresses alarm over the junta’s escalating use of airstrikes in Karen and Mon States, Burma, and calls for immediate international attention and a coordinated response to the attacks against civilians.

The military junta in Mon State has increased its drone attacks on villages in Kyaikhto Township, despite the absence of active clashes in the area. These targeted strikes have resulted in civilian injuries, the destruction of homes and public infrastructure, and considerable damage to livelihoods, including farms and businesses.

Military analysts have observed that the junta’s use of high-performance drones for targeted strikes has increased following Min Aung Hlaing’s recent visit to Russia. The primary perpetrators of these attacks are troops stationed at Light Infantry Battalion No. 207 and Artillery Regiment Command No. 310, located in Kyaikhto Township. These units are responsible for issuing and executing the majority of attack orders. As of March 15, at least seven villages in Kyaikhto Township have been repeatedly targeted, with over two dozen strikes documented.

Southern Ye telecommunications cut off for three months

HURFOM: The dominant telecommunications networks in Southern Ye Township, Mon State are MPT and MyTel however, since December, 2024, both providers have not been able to provide any signal to Ma Gyi and Kyone Nyell villages located in the township.

Weekly Analysis: Increasing Use of Drone Attacks by the Military Junta Raises Alarm in Local Communities

Due to the junta’s extensive losses on the battlefield, the terrorist military junta is turning to other forms of attacks, primarily from the air. Their dependence on advanced weaponry and surveillance from countries like China, India, and Russia has been devastating for local communities who are the regime’s targets. In specific areas noted by the Human Rights Foundation of Monland (HURFOM), including Mon State, Karen State, and the Tanintharyi Region, civilians are being maimed by drone strikes carried out by the junta.

The military in Mon State has intensified its drone attacks on villages in Kyaikhto Township despite no active clashes in the area. These targeted strikes have led to civilian injuries, the destruction of homes and public infrastructure, and significant damage to livelihoods, including farms and businesses.
