Military advance in Dawei forces 1,000 residents to flee home

HURFOM: On March 18th, 2025, about 200 troops from the Dawei based 402nd Light Infantry Battalion advanced into See Pin Gout and Pa Kar Re villages, located in the Dawei East Forest region, Dawei Township, Tenasserim Division.
The military advance triggered more than 1,000 residents from See Pin Gout, Za Lon, Line Taung and Ka Tat villages to flee their homes.
“The army advanced into the village on foot at about 6:30 pm. After their advance, the soldiers search houses; destroy property and arrest villagers to escort them. That’s why villagers dare not stay at their home when the army advances into the village,” said one displaced person.

The military regiment has been stationing themselves at houses in the villages since March 21st and villagers are unable to return safely to their homes.
On March 18th, 2025, the Kyauk Ka Nyar based 304th regiment launched an indiscriminate artillery attack that injured a father and son working at their plantation.
Since early February, 2025, the military junta has launched military advances, air assaults and artillery attacks by navy ships to areas near linked to Thai – Burma trade routes and the Dawei Special Economic Zone forcing more than 68,400 residents to flee their homes.
Among them, 10,350 displaced villagers are from Dawei Township.
