HURFOM: On March 13th, 2025, the military junta attacked Maung Ma Kan village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division with artillery fire injuring three residents including a two-year-old child.

The People’s Defense Forces had attacked the Maung Ma Kan Police Station and the “Lat Khat Taung” military base between Long Lone Town and Sam Hlam village and in response, the junta’s navy ship launched artillery attacks while military aircraft dropped bombs.

One artillery shell exploded in Ward #13 near the Maung Ma Kan Police Station and 40-year-old Daw Lar Ma Jay, 37-year-old Ma Zar Zar and two-year-old Maung E Kyar Kway were injured by artillery debris.

While she was breastfeeding, artillery debris penetrated Ma Zar Zar’s back and pierced through to her abdomen. Maung E Kyar Kway (her son) sustained a minor injury to his pubic area. Daw Lar Ma Jay suffered a wound to her arm,” said a source close to the victims’ families.

By March 21st, the three had finished medical treatments.

All were discharged from the hospital. People said Ma Zar Zar had artillery debris in her abdomen but it did not appear visible in an X-ray. The doctor said she must return to hospital if her wound doesn’t recover well,” continued the source.
