Plantation owners and workers extorted for as much as 20,000 MMK

HURFOM: Since October 5^th, 2024, plantation owners and workers from eight villages in Kan Bauk region, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division have been extorted for up to 20,000 MMK for a required recommendation letter issued from the Mawrawaddy Navy Command and from particular Administrators.

Administrator expels local woman from village in Kaw Thaung

HURFOM: On October 17^th, 2024, the village Administrator of (10) Mile village, Kaw Thaung Township, Tenasserim Division expelled a local woman from the village after claiming she is the mother of a member of the People’s Defense Force.

The son of the 50-year-old woman joined the People Defense Force after the 2021 attempted coup.

Six residents arrested within ten days in Ye Township

HURFOM: Between October 5^th and 15^th, 2024, six residents from Ye Township, Mon State were arrested by the military junta after being accused of having contact with the People’s Defense Force.

Maung Pone Chit from Chaung Taung village was arrested on October 5^th while Ma Aye Chan and Ma Ngae Nage from Aung Mittar Ward, Ye Town were arrested on October 9^th. All were arrested by the junta at their homes.

No trace of local woman arrested by unknown armed group in Long Lone

HURFOM: On October 10^th, 2024, an adult woman from Maung Ma Kan village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division was arrested by an unknown armed group. According to family members, there has been no trace of her for ten days since her arrest.

Junta’s regiment kills three villagers in Long Lone

HURFOM: Between October 10^th and 16^th, 2024, a junta’s regiment consisting of approximately 500 troops launched military operations in Gog Inn, Yebyu, Pain Nell Taw, Ka Dat Nge Htein, Ka Htein Gyi, Sat Pyell and Nyin Maw village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim.

HURFOM: On October 2^nd, 2024, U Myint Nine and U Than Kywe from Myouk Yaw village, Dawei Township, Tenasserim Division hired 62-year-old motorbike taxi driver Saw Sanny Doe aka U Sanny to go to Pa Kar Ri village to buy some iron and lead.

Grandparents and granddaughter injured by junta’s artillery attack in Than Za Yet

HURFOM: On October 12^th, 2024, the 207^th Light Infantry Battalion based in Than Za Yet, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State launched indiscriminate artillery attacks despite no armed clashes in the nearby area. The attacks injured three grandparents and a granddaughter.

Junta arrests eight residents in Paung after accusing them of being PDF members

HURFOM: On October 4^th, 2024, the military junta arrested eight residents from Paung Township, Mon State, accusing them of being the members of the People’s Defense Force.

Since their arrest, there has been no trace of them, according to the sources close to family members.

The junta conducted a “stop and check” on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway Road nearby Zin Kyike Town, Paung Township and arrested 14-year-old Maung Aye Chan and 19-year-old Maung Kaung Myat Soe both from Oak Tan Dar village, accusing them of being PDF members.

Junta’s artillery attack kills a child and a local man in Kyarinnseikyi

HURFOM: On October 12^th, 2024, the 284^th light infantry battalion targeted Kya Khat Chaung village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State with indiscriminate artillery attacks even without having any active armed clash in nearby area and the attack killed a ten-year-old child and a local man.
