Woman killed by bomb dropped by drone in Kaw Bane

HURFOM: On July 8th, 2024, two drones dropped four bombs on Kaw Bane village, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State killing a local woman and damaging three houses.

The deceased, 62-year-old Daw Khwar Mi, died on the way to the Mawlamyine General Hospital.

Junta’s EPC extorts huge sums from Mawlamyine residents for dubious electricity bills

Junta’s forces still target and extort VPN users despite claims that complaints are possible

HURFOM: On June 24th, 2024, junta spokesperson General Zaw Min Tun, said if one was arrested or extorted for using or installing VPN applications on mobile phones, they could file a formal complaint seeking further investigation.

Junta’s air and artillery assaults force more than 1,000 “Pyar Taung” residents to flee homes

HURFOM: Since the last week of June, 2024, the military junta has launched air and artillery assaults targeting the “Pyar Taung ” area of Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State forcing more than 1,000 residents to flee their homes.

On June 26th, the joint resistance forces used drones equipped with bombs to attack a military regiment stationed at “Sa Bell Gu ” monastery. In response, the 208th light infantry battalion launched six air assaults on villages in the “Pyar Taung” area.

Many children suffer from dengue fever in Mon State

HURFOM: Many children in Mon State are suffering from dengue fever which is very common in the rainy season.  The number of child patients is increasing day after day, according to the sources from the Mawlamyine General Hospital.

There have been more than 1,000 dengue fever patients since June, 2024 and about 20 children per day have been admitted to the maternal and child department (aka American Hospital) of the Mawlamyine General Hospital, according to a nurse from the hospital.

Junta’s military operation forces ten thousand of residents to flee home in Yebyu

HURFOM: On June 18th, 2024, a regiment of about 200 troops launched military operations in villages in Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division forcing more than 10,000 residents to flee their homes.

The junta has military operations in Zar D, Khaung Pyan, Dike Ta Kor, Kyauk Hta Yan, Khway Ma Phaw, Kha Yin Chaung, Pa Ya villages in Yebyu area and A Ka Ni, Kha Maung Chaung, Lell Shaung, Ba War, Para Dat, Htein Gyi and Ya Line villages in Na Bu Lell area.
