Junta’s regiment arrests and kills four villagers in Long Lone

HURFOM: On August 30th, 2024, a junta’s regiment entered Bu Chine village, Sa Khan Gyi village track, Long Lone Township, Dawei District, Tenasserim Division and arrested four local villagers.

Among the arrested, 52-year-old U Kyaw Than was shot and killed on August 31st. 53-year-old U Phoe Aye was shot and killed on September 1st and 50-year-old U Ba Shwe was shot and killed on the next day – September 2nd.

U Kyaw Than was shot and killed beside the village road. U Phoe Aye was shot and killed in a rubber plantation and U Ba Shwe was shot nearby the Dawei Agricultural Institute,” said a resident.

According to the locals, all the three men were farmers and did not have contact with the resistance forces.

On August 31, local villagers found a dead body of 30-year-old young man in “Maw Tone” Stream between Son Taung Paw and Phwar Boat Pyin villages. The body had bruises and wounds and he was supposed to be tortured before his death.

The body has bruises and wounds sustained from torture. As of today (September 8th), no one knows the identity of the dead body,” said a local source.

The regiment also burnt down ten houses in Bu Chine and Phwar Boat Pyin villages and as of September 3rd, the regiment has been launching military operation in villages in Kha Maung Taung, Htein Twin and Sa Kha Gyi village tracks.

The regiment left the village but no one dare to enter the village. As there have been arrests and killings, everyone is frightened to stay in the village,” said a Bu Chine villager.
