HURFOM: The father of Ko Min Lwin Oo, a member of Dawei Strike Committee, was arbitrarily arrested by the junta on June 19, 2023, and on August 13, was charged under section 505(a) of the Anti-Terrorism Act for defaming the State.

Junta’s artillery attacks injure two boys in Pu Law

HURFOM: On August 9, 2023, the 285th Light Infantry Battalion based in Pu Law launched multiple artillery attacks targeting Hmaw Kyaung, Lat Ku, Mya Taung, Pe Tat, Zayat Sake, Ta Po, Pa Wut Kone and Kyaung Name villages, all located in  Pu Law Township, Tenasserim Division.

Junta launches military operation in Na Bu Lell: Arrest of ten villagers follows

HURFOM: The junta launched military operations in the Na Bu Lell region near the Dawei Special Economic Zone, located in Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division.

Within three days, in early August, ten men and women were arrested and they have not yet been released.

The situation remains volatile as pathways for justice and accountability are extremely limited. The military is trying to create an illusion of normalcy in the country, but the people on the ground know all too well the horrors occurring. Thane Za Yet resident arrested after being accused of being a PDF member

HURFOM: The military junta arrested Ko San Htun Oo who lives in Ward #3, Thane Za Yet Town, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State after accusing him of being a member of People’s Defense Force (PDF).

When checking his mobile phone, the military junta claimed he shared the activities of the National Unity Government and the PDF on his social media account.

Unknown armed group arrests  woman and later shoot her uncle

HURFOM: On August 4, 2023, a woman from Way De village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division was arrested by an unknown armed group.  Four days after the arrest, the group came to the village and shot her uncle.

Local PDF accidentally kills villager during  attack on military truck

HURFOM: On August 6, 2023, a local People’s Defense Force, known as the Long Lone PDF,  chased and attacked a military truck near Inn South village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division.

PDF forces accidentally shot and killed a villager during the attack, according to local sources.
