Junta’s night search frightens residents in Lamine

HURFOM: At about 8 pm on June 29th, 2024, military junta troops conducted a door-to-door night search in some wards in Lamine Town, Ye Township, Mon State that frightened local residents.

The junta conducted the search after the Maw Ka Nin based, 106th light infantry battalion was attacked by resistance forces.  Junta forces claimed they were checking for men staying in the houses.

Junta’s artillery attack kills a novice in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: On June 29th, 2024, the 310th regiment battalion based in Thane Za Yet launched eight indiscriminate artillery attacks on Yay Kyaw village, which is located in Thane Za Yet Town, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State.  The attacks killed a novice and severely injured a local woman.

27 civilians killed by junta’s artillery attack within six months in Mon State

HURFOM: From January to June, 2024, 27 innocent civilians from Mon State were killed by the junta’s indiscriminate artillery attacks, and another 85 individuals sustained injuries, according to the data collected by the Human Rights Foundation of Monland (HURFOM).

Eight residents from Bilin, six residents from Kyike Hto, five residents from Kyikemayaw, four residents from Ye, three residents from Thaton and a resident from Paung Townships, 27 residents in total, were killed by artillery attacks.

Junta’s indiscriminate artillery attack injures four family members including two children

July 2, 2024

HURFOM: On June 27th, 2024, the 317th artillery regiment based in Hnit Ka Yin village, Ye Township, Mon State had launched an indiscriminate artillery attack despite there being no active armed clashes. The attack injured four family members including two children.

The two children who are under ten years old and other two family members are from Bu Tar Ward.  The attack also damaged at least three houses.

Junta’s artillery destroys five houses and forces entire village to flee home

HURFOM: On June 27th, 2024, the Mawrawaddy Navy Command targeted Zar D village, Kan Bauk village track, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim with continuous artillery attack and destroyed five houses.

After the junta’s military base in Zar D and Kan Bauk villages were attacked by the resistance forces, the junta targeted the village with indiscriminate attacks.

For social workers charged under Anti-Terrorist act in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: On June 27th, 2024, the military junta charged four social workers with the “Kaw Sa Nine Society Organization ” from Kaw Sa Nine Ward, Kyike Hto Town, Mon State using the Anti-Terrorist Act. 

According to sources close to the families, on June 13th, U Mya Aung, his daughter Ma Su Myat Su Yadanar Way, and coworkers U Chan Thar Aung, and U Soe Hline, were arrested by the junta at their home. The junta interrogated them at the 44th Battalion Command for two weeks and then laid charges.

Junta’s artillery attack kills a woman and injures three in Pa La

HURFOM: On June 28th, 2024, the Pa La Town police station in Pa La Town, Pu Law Township, Myeik District, Tenasserim Division launched an indiscriminate artillery attack on the town.  Artillery shells exploded at the central market of Pa La Town.

3,000 residents from Dawei District flee from their homes

HURFOM: Since June 19th, 2024, more than 3,000 residents from nine villages have had to flee their homes due to constant and indiscriminate artillery attacks by the Mawrawaddy Navy Command, as well as air assaults and junta operations.

Junta’s artillery attack kills villager and injures two in Kyike Hto

July 1, 2024

HURFOM: On June 25th, 2024, the 310th artillery regiment based in Thane Za Yet, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State had launched an indiscriminate artillery attack that killed a villager and injured two others in Kyike Hto. There were no active armed clashes in the area to provoke the attack.

The artillery explosion killed 20-year-old Ma Hla Ya Min and injured a 35-year-old man and a nine-year-old child.
