Revolutionary forces announce plan to interrupt what they call ‘junta’s sham election’
July 8, 2025
HURFOM: The military junta has been preparing to hold an election in the third week of December, 2025. Numerous revolutionary forces across Burma said they would do everything to interrupt and stop the junta’s sham election.
Currently, the junta is organizing training for voters in how to use “Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM)”, and launching a special project of issuing ID cards for those who do not have recognized identity documents, including migrant workers and those who have just turned 18.
Revolutionary forces claimed that the junta’s election is nothing more than a sham exercise to prolong their grip on power and it has no integrity. Furthermore, they say the junta’s sham election will not provide a proper solution for the current political crisis.

“We don’t accept the sham election organized by the junta. We’ll use every means possible to stop the election. Nothing has changed, now will it change even after the election. The political crisis won’t be eased by the election. We’ll fight the junta till the end,” said a member of an armed revolutionary group.
There is widespread suspicion that the junta will rig the “MEVM” machines to enable a fraudulent election outcome.
“The junta will use the machines for the voting system so it’s difficult for the people to cast their votes properly. The junta first introduces the need to cast the votes by machine because they want to rig the votes. That’s why we said the junta’s election won’t be free and fair,” continued the member.
In Mon State, the Union Solidarity and Development Party, the People Party, the People’s Pioneer Party, the Mon Unity Party, the Women Party (Mon) and the National Unity Party have been preparing to contest the junta’s election and the armed revolutionary groups have issued a warning that there would be a huge and heavy punishment if political parties offer improper incentives to buy people’s votes.
