Three civilians injured in armed clash in Long Lone

HURFOM: On January 30th, 2024, the joint People’s Defense Forces battled with the military junta in Long Lone Town, Tenasserim Division. Three civilians including 10-year-old child sustained injuries, and three houses were damaged.
The joint revolutionary forces attacked the Long Lone Town Police Station, the Township Offices of the Special Branch and the General Administration Department. The junta’s navy responded with artillery attacks.
The artillery shells exploded in Htein Thit Ward, Long Lone Town and injured the three civilians.
“A 58-year-old man was making a broom at the stable behind his house. The artillery shell dropped and exploded near the stable. The artillery debris penetrated his armpit and left him with serious injury. I’ve learnt that other two residents were also injured,” said a Long Lone resident.
Artillery shells also exploded in Tha Byar and Arm Pone villages and damaged three houses.
“There was no one on the streets in Long Lone as of January 31st. About 100 troops are patrolling the town. They’ve stationed themselves at the schools,” said a resident.
After the battle in Long Lone Town, some residents fled for their safety.
