Woman loses leg in landmine explosion in Kaw Ka Rate

HURFOM: On January 24th, 2024, a local woman stepped on a landmine near Kaw War Lel village, Kyone Doe Town, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State and lost a leg.
60-year-old Daw Yin Shwe went to “Kaw Kyike” monastery to offer food in the morning and she stepped on a landmine nearby Kaw War Lel village on her way back home.
“She used a shortcut in the village field. Everyone has used it that way before. Daw Yin Shwe lost one of her legs. Now, no one dares to walk that way.”
Daw Yin Shwe was sent to Kyone Doe General Hospital for treatment. Villagers have been requesting for the removal of landmines in their area.
