HUROFM: On January 23rd, 2024, two men and two women from Kan Bauk Town, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta at their home at midnight.
Junta’s troops conducted a search in Mi Kyaung Eye and Mya Thidar Wards, and arrested Ko Toe, Toe Aung, Ma Htike, Htike Zin Min. The couples operated a beauty salon and wedding service agency. All the four victims are from Mi Kyaung Eye Ward.
“They first searched nearby houses and shops from top to bottom and then arrested them,” said a Kan Bauk resident.
No one knows the reason for the arrest and family members have not been informed of their whereabouts.
After the Mawrawaddy Navy Command was attacked in late 2023, junta forces arrested two men and two women. Family members have not been able to be in contact with them, to this day.
“The Mawrawaddy Navy Command is constantly patrolling Kan Bauk at the moment. Most of the arrested victims are thought to be detained there,” said a Kan Bauk resident.
