Four women killed by artillery attacks in Bilin

HURFOM: On January 19th, 2024, the military junta launched artillery attacks on Tattoo Gone village, Dough Yat village tract, Bilin Township, Mon State killing four women, reported a local rescue team.

The 314th Artillery Regiment based in Zee Wun village, launched the attacks that killed four women and destroyed two houses.

22-year-old Ma Sandar, 46-year-old Naw Kor Lar Mu and 49-year-old Daw Naw Mu all died on the spot.

The artillery shells dropped and exploded on the eastern and central parts of the village. Three women were killed while seven villagers sustained injuries. The entire village is in sorrow,” said a Tattoo Gone villager.

The injured victims are two-year-old Maung Ye Yint Aung, 26-year-old Ma War War Thin, 40-year-old Daw Khin Win Hline, 46-year-old Daw Taw Thar, 68-year-old Daw Khin Than and 43-year-old Saw Myo Zaw.

The victims were sent to Bilin Hospital for further treatment but three were later transferred to Thaton District General Hospital as their injuries were severe. Daw Taw Thar died on January 20th.

Tattoo Gone village is mostly inhabited by Karen people and there was no active armed clash or military action nearby the village. The military junta reckless launched the attack.

On January 18th, 2024, a couple from Kaw Hline village were also injured by a junta artillery attack.  The husband’s injuries resulted in an amputation of one leg, according to the statement by the Thaton District Karen National Union.
