The 31-year-old Ko Pyae Phyo Aung suffered from severe indigestion and was admitted to the prison hospital on January 15th, 2024. When the chief doctor arrived, he gave him two “life-saving” injections and oxygen therapy. He was then transferred to Mawlamyine General Hospital but died at 1 am on January 16th, 2024.

He suffered from indigestion. But just an hour after the injection, he frothed at his mouth and fell down. We’re making a careful inquiry about what type of injection he received. I also request ICRC to reveal the truth,” said Ko Thike Tun Oo, the spokesperson of the PPNM.
