Two men arrested by Mawrawaddy Navy not released yet

HURFOM: At night on November 30, 2023, the Mawrawaddy Navy Command using excessive force, arrested two individuals from Kan Bauk Town, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim. 37-year-old, Ko Aung Khat from Ward #1, and 30-year-old Ko Pie Pie from Ward #2, were both arrested.
“They came to Ko Aung Khat’s house at about 11 pm. There were three military trucks and more than 20 soldiers. They conducted interrogation at the house for a very long time. (The military also) instructed his family members not to leave. They arrested Ko Pie Pie on the same night,” said a Kan Bauk resident.
The two men ran a motorbike repair shop. They are being detained and interrogated at the Mawrawaddy Navy Command. A source close to family members said they have not been released as of today.
“During the arrest, the Navy Command destroyed fences and barbed wire. We don’t know the reason for the arrest,” said the source.
