In Launglon Township, Dawei District, junta forces are advancing on villages with ground troops and launching repeated, indiscriminate artillery attacks, according to local residents.
On April 10, after clashes occurred near the Customs Office in Kyetsarpyin Ward, Dawei Town, the junta began mobilizing towards Launglon Township. Early the following day, at around 5:30 a.m. on April 11, junta troops began marching toward Min Yet village.
From around 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. today, the junta’s artillery unit stationed in Dawei Town fired at least seven rounds. The shells landed near Wai Dee, Danitaw, Shinkyieain, Innsauk, and Ywahaungwa villages in Launglon Township.
“They’re firing artillery in advance to clear the way for their advancing troops. Some of the shells landed near Innsauk and Ywahaungwa,” said one local resident.
In addition, junta forces reportedly arrested a young man in his 20s from Ywahaungwa village who was collecting rubber in a nearby plantation near Min Yet village.
Locals say the junta is not only firing artillery from Dawei Town but also using drones to drop bombs on villages, causing widespread fear and forcing many residents to flee in search of safety.
