Junta’s constant artillery attacks kill one villager and injures other two

HURFOM: In order to protect the “Ah Nan Kwin” military strategic base in Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State, the military junta launched air and artillery attacks for four consecutive days between December 14th to 17th, 2024. These attacks killed a villager and injured two other residents.
The 318th and the 315th artillery regiments and the 583rd and 587th light infantry battalions launched artillery attacks on the area and villages nearby the “Ah Nan Kwin” military strategic base.
On December 17th, the 315th artillery regiment based in Well Ka Lee village, Thanbyuzayat Township launched an artillery attack targeting Win Htaung and Nan Khwi villages.
The artillery explosion killed 72-year-old U Aung Chit and injured 53-year-old Daw Mu Lin Kyi and 54-year-old Daw Pa Kyi from Win Htaung village.
“There were artillery attacks for four consecutive days. Both big and small munitions were launched. The attack stopped on December 18th and 19th. A villager was killed and two others suffered injuries. Some houses in Zee Hna Pin village were also damaged by the artillery attacks,” said a local resident.
A junta’s regiment marched into the “Ah Nan Kwin” military strategic base to reinforce its troops and then launched indiscriminate artillery attacks for four consecutive days ostensibly to protect their troops. The regiment has stationed themselves in villages nearby the base.
The battle has been ongoing for more than four months, with many civilian casualties. More than 20,000 residents from 20 villages have had to flee their homes due to the frequent bombardment.
